Google AI Mode in Türkiye: What Changed for Businesses?

On 18 February 2026, Google announced on its Türkiye blog that it had started gradually rolling out AI Mode and AI Overviews to users in Türkiye. According to the announcement, both features run on the Gemini 3 model family and are available in the Google app on Android and iOS and on the search results page. Because the rollout is gradual, not every user sees the features at the same time.

In this post I explain what AI Mode is, what it changes for businesses and what Google's official documentation says you actually need in order to appear. I cover the step-by-step work of getting a brand into AI answers in the GEO implementation guide; here I focus only on this new Google surface.

Short answer: Google AI Mode has been rolling out gradually in Türkiye since February 2026. According to Google, there are no additional technical requirements for AI Mode; a page needs to be indexed and eligible to appear in Search with a snippet. The real change for businesses is that users ask longer, multi-step questions and clicks are spread across fewer sources.

What is Google AI Mode and how is it different from AI Overviews?

AI Overviews shows a short summary with links above the classic results. AI Mode is a separate, conversational search experience: users can ask follow-up questions and search by voice or with a photo as well as text. Google says AI Mode may use a "query fan-out" technique, splitting a question into subtopics and running several related searches at once.

In practice, a user no longer runs a single search like "paediatric dentist open on weekends in Istanbul" and leaves. They can continue the chain inside Google with "what affects the price" and "what happens at the first visit".

How did AI Mode launch in Türkiye?

AI Mode expanded to many countries and languages during 2025, but Türkiye was not part of those early waves. The official announcement for Türkiye came on 18 February 2026, signed by Google's country director. It says the features are rolling out gradually, are available in the Google app and on the results page, and that ads will keep appearing in dedicated spaces above and below the AI Overviews panel.

The announcement does not include a detailed list of age, account type or supported query languages. So rather than telling clients "everyone sees it", I ask them to check their own sector's queries regularly from different devices and accounts. As of October 2026, when this post was written, treat Google's official help pages as the reference for availability details. I track major Google-side changes in the Google updates log.

How does AI Mode change search behaviour for businesses?

The clearest change I see in client work is the shape of queries. In AI Mode people ask questions that include comparisons, conditions and context, and Google can split them into multiple sub-searches and combine different sources. That has three consequences for businesses:

  • Topic coverage matters more than a single page: price factors, process, suitable cases and common questions for a service should all be answered clearly.
  • Passages stand out: an answer is often built from a single paragraph or table row rather than a whole page, so sections that make sense on their own are valuable.
  • Click quality may shift: visitors who read a summary first arrive better informed, so the relationship between clicks and conversions needs fresh monitoring.

In its Türkiye announcement, Google says these experiences are designed to support the open web and that it continues to send billions of clicks to websites every day. The direction of the impact on your own site, however, only shows up in your own data; I cover how to measure it below.

What does it take to appear in AI Mode?

Google Search Central's documentation on AI features is clear: to be shown as a link in AI Overviews or AI Mode, a page must be indexed and eligible to be shown in Google Search with a snippet, and there are no additional technical requirements. It also states that you don't need new machine-readable files, AI text files or special markup. That matches the conclusion I reached when looking at the real impact of llms.txt.

The best practices Google lists are classic SEO:

  • robots.txt and CDN/hosting settings allow Googlebot to crawl
  • Important pages are easy to find through internal links
  • Good page experience; key content is in text, not locked in images
  • Structured data matches the visible text on the page
  • Google Business Profile and, where relevant, Merchant Center details are up to date

For setting up structured data correctly, see the schema and structured data guide. Even so, in Google's own words, meeting every requirement does not mean indexing or serving is assured.

How do you measure AI Mode traffic in Search Console and GA4?

According to Google's documentation, impressions and clicks from AI features are reported in the Search Console Performance report under the "Web" search type. At the time of writing, the official documentation does not describe a separate AI Mode filter, so I read its impact indirectly: rising impressions on long, question-style queries, pages whose impressions grow while clicks stay flat, and changes in conversion rate.

Visits from within Google appear as organic search in GA4; separating traffic from platforms such as ChatGPT and Perplexity is a different task. I explain the method in separating AI traffic in GA4, and how to fold it into a monthly report in the SEO reporting guide.

Can you control how your content is used in AI Mode?

Yes, but the tools are the same as for classic search. Google says nosnippet, data-nosnippet, max-snippet and noindex limit what Search shows from your pages, and these apply to AI features too. Google-Extended, according to the official documentation, is not for AI features in Search; it limits training and grounding use in some other Google systems.

Weigh the trade-off carefully: restricting snippets means your page is represented with less information in both classic results and AI answers. For most businesses the right approach is not to restrict but to offer accurate content worth citing. Other assistants choose sources differently, so the post on getting cited by Perplexity is worth a read too.

What should businesses do for AI Mode in the first 30 days?

This is the short starting plan I use with clients:

  • Week 1: Write down 20-30 questions customers ask in your sector, try them in AI Mode and note which sources are shown.
  • Week 2: Filter question-style queries in Search Console and list pages with growing impressions.
  • Week 3: Add direct-answer paragraphs, comparison tables and FAQs to your most important service and category pages.
  • Week 4: Check that your brand name, address and service descriptions are consistent across your site, Business Profile and external sources.

Some of these steps are work that SEO consulting should already cover; the difference is that measurement now has to include AI answers as well. If you want a roadmap for your sector, see the GEO consulting page or book a free intro call.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does AI Mode work with Turkish queries?

Google's Türkiye announcement says the feature is being rolled out to users in Türkiye and targets the Turkish search experience. However, it does not include a detailed list of supported query languages. I recommend testing Turkish queries in your sector regularly and checking Google's current help pages.

Will AI Mode reduce my organic traffic?

There is no general answer; the impact depends on your sector, query type and pages. Informational queries may see fewer clicks, while visitors from purchase or booking queries may be better qualified. Comparing Search Console and GA4 data split by query type is the most reliable approach.

Should I write separate content for AI Mode?

No. Google says no special optimisation is needed. Strengthening existing pages with self-contained paragraphs that answer questions directly and with clear tables works for both classic search and AI answers.

Are ads shown in AI Mode?

Google's Türkiye announcement says ads will continue to appear in dedicated spaces above and below the AI Overviews panel. For ad formats and availability inside AI Mode, check Google Ads' current official documentation.

How do local businesses appear in AI Mode?

Keeping Business Profile information up to date is among Google's recommendations. Consistent, current details for address, opening hours, service categories and reviews are the foundation of being represented correctly in local queries.

What should I do if AI Mode describes my brand incorrectly?

First find which source the wrong information comes from; often an old directory listing, an outdated page or an inconsistent profile is responsible. Fix the source, state the correct information clearly on your own site, then allow time for recrawling before the change shows up.
